How we feel about Black Friday:
If you want a new flat screen TV, a fridge or perhaps a lawn mower - great. Go for it. But honestly, a lot of times Black Friday deals aren't as good as they seem and often not worth the craziness.
If you are shopping from small businesses and makers and creators, it is an entirely different story. We don't have the profit margins the big guys have.
We simply can't afford to give a huge discount.
The other aspect is, that here at Windseeker, we go against everything that Black Friday stands for. We encourage thoughtful purchases of items we love and will last for a very long time - or even a lifetime. We don't want to encourage people to buy something just because it's cheap, but don't really need it (I've definitely fallen into that trap too).
Mass production comes with a lot of waste. Small businesses can measure demand better and only produce what will sell. Most of our vendors sell made-to-order. That means they will produce the product as we order it, not keep tons of stock.
When we stock seasonal items, we don't need to get rid of all our stock at the end of the season. We just sell it again next year. Because it's no less pretty just because a year has passed and has still been made with the same love :).
So: There will be no Black Friday deals at Windseeker. BUT, in celebration of the year and all our awesome customers and loyal Windseeker friends, every year around our birthday in November until the end of that calendar year, we will add a free gift to any order over $100. Those also always ship for free.
Smaller orders still get a little something, like we do all year round.
